From 270 Pounds to Fit: The Power of Healthy Meal Plans for the Week

Lost 100 Pounds on a Keto Diet

My name is Catherine Strouse, and I am a 30-year-old certified fitness trainer and sports nutritionist from Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2018, my family faced a life-altering event when my husband was paralyzed in a hit-and-run car accident. Two years prior, I had given birth to my daughter and hadn’t lost all my baby weight. During this traumatic period, I fell into depression and began eating indiscriminately. Though I wasn't into sweets, I consumed large meals without portion control and drank alcohol daily, leading to significant weight gain.

Three years ago, at my heaviest weight of 270 pounds, a picture my cousin posted on social media was my wake-up call. I didn’t recognize myself and knew it was time for a change.

I began my weight-loss journey without labeling it as a “diet” due to the negative connotations. Instead, I made sustainable lifestyle changes. I eliminated alcohol, sodas, rice, bread, and pork from my diet and substituted healthier recipes for my cravings.

I also embraced making healthy fruit and vegetable smoothies, which became a significant part of my new lifestyle.

Overall, I Lost 100 Pounds Naturally Over the Course of One Year

Understand that weight loss is a journey that takes time and mental strength. It’s not a race. Focus not on the scale but on how you feel. The changes will come if you show up every day and put in the work.
